The second annual Irish Software Show is to take place in Trinity College Dublin between June 8th and 11th….and there’s a subsidised ticket offer for companies employing less than 30 people, which has been made possible by the support of the Software Skillnet.
The 4-Day conference ( http://epicenter.ie ) caters for software enthusiasts, whatever their interest. Tuesday starts with the Business of Best Practice which explores traditional and new concepts for producing software excellence. Wednesday discusses traditional client-server technologies and Thursday and Friday sees software moving online with web, cloud and mobile zones. In all, around 100 sessions.
epicenter 2010 is an ideal place to visit. Not only will developers hear and learn about a vast array of technology, they’ll also have an opportunity to meet top spec technology evangelists from across the globe, and with their industry peers, giving them many avenues to increase competitive knowledge and collaborate with similarly situated companies.

Andrew Porter is Professor of Biotechnology and Deputy Director of the Institute of Medical Sciences at the University of Aberdeen. He was founder and CSO of University spin-out Haptogen Ltd. which was acquired by Wyeth in October 2007.
Haptogen developed a proprietary human therapeutic antibody platform designed for discovery and optimization of protein therapeutics with improved profiles. The benefits include the potential for more convenient routes of administration as well as cell and organ penetration, addressing diseases that are not treatable with first generation protein therapeutics.
Prior to Haptogen, Prof. Porter was one of the founding academics and Research Director of Remedios Ltd, Aberdeen. Remedios, a biosensor company, was Scottish biotech of the year in 2000.
In 2005 Prof. Porter was Ernst and Young Plc, Scottish & UK Science and Technology Entrepreneur of the Year and in 2006 be became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
Since the sale of Haptogen, Prof. Porter has remained active within the biotechnology sector and together with his Haptogen co-founders he has established a venture fund, Grampian Bio-partners, that recently made its first investment in an anti-infectives company based in Scotland.

About The Competition
Dragons’ Den 2010 is a fantastic opportunity for students across all faculties to test out their ideas for a new business venture. Entrants will compete against the best students in Trinity for a chance to seize some of the €3,000 prize fund kindly sponsored by Tata Consultancy Services.
The Prizes
1. €2,000 for the winning entry
2. €750 for the first runner up
3. €250 & a Bike, worth €200 from Comhar, for the best green/environmental/sustainable submission
The Live Final
Our hosts, Tom Kelly and Jennifer Geraghty, will announce the finalists of the competition and those who will present their business pitch to our dragons.
The audience and dragons will then watch as entrants sink or swim when they present their 3 minute business pitch, using slides, drawings, product prototypes and any other prop they can think of.
After each pitch the dragons test the entrants wits by drilling down into the particulars of their business plan and pitch.
Once all of the finalists have presented their ideas the dragons will retire to make their final decision. We will have Dragons’ Den winner, Tim Rooney MD of Surf Seeds talk of his experience on the television show and working with the dragons.
Then the dragons will return to announce the winners of the TES Dragons’ Den 2010. The prizes will be presented and the event will be followed with a free drinks reception in the Atrium.
